Seth Pyrzynski - Esports Live Product Director
I was the Product Owner and Live Product Director for the LEC Summer Finals 2019 in Athens, Greece. In my role, I lead the live events management, player management, and live operations teams. Developed, managed, and reconciled the Athens, Greece Summer Finals budget, 1.8MM€.
Managed live broadcast production partner, TV Skyline, and Concom, our production partner. I was the creative producer, bringing the live show together as a Riot Games EU publishing product and live production, live streaming globally to 13 countries, including China, representing the League of Legends European Championship Summer Finals 2019 series.
The League of Legends European Championship (LEC) is one of the premier esports leagues for the game League of Legends. The LEC Summer 2019 was part of the 2019 competitive season and featured teams from across Europe competing for a spot in the World Championship.
The LEC Summer 2019 Playoffs took place in Athens, Greece. The event was held at the esteemed Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall and was one of the most anticipated events of the season. This iconic venue, also referred to as the O.A.C.A. Olympic Indoor Hall, is an integral component of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex. With its rich history and state-of-the-art facilities, the hall stands as a testament to Athens' legacy as a host of world-class sporting events.
Boasting a seating capacity of approximately 18,000 for basketball engagements, the Nikos Galis Olympic Indoor Hall is versatile in accommodating a diverse array of events providing flexibility in creating an immersive and engaging atmosphere for the attendees of the LEC Summer 2019 Playoffs.
Athens, Greece, would feature the LEC’s largest Fan Expo to date. Each of the 10 Teams from the LEC featured booths with fan experiences. These experiences were situated with each of the LEC’s League sponsors and the summer finals event sponsors.
G2 Esports emerged as the winners of the LEC Summer 2019, defeating Fnatic in the finals. This victory secured them a spot in the 2019 League of Legends World Championship.
The series would become one of the most viewed esports events of all time, peaking at 850,000 live stream viewers.
