Seth Pyrzynski - Esports Live Product Director
I was the Product Owner and Live Product Director. In my role, I lead the live events management, player management, and live operations teams. Developed, managed, and reconciled the Rotterdam, NL Spring Finals budget, 1.65MM€.
Managed live broadcast production partner, TV Skyline, and Concom, our production partner. I was the creative producer, bringing the live show together as a Riot Games EU publishing product and live production, live streaming globally to 13 countries, including China, representing the League of Legends European Championship Summer Finals 2019 series.
The League of Legends European Championship hosted its inaugural LEC Spring Finals in Rotterdam, Netherlands April 18th and 19th, 2019, at the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena.
This was the first city selected through our newly developed Host City initiative. We were establishing processes based on long-standing sports to elevate the industry and further develop the ecosystem. At the same time, we were offering something traditional sports didn't have, a younger tech-oriented audience, which provides tremendous value for cities looking to attract a hard-to-reach demographic. With the broadcast potential of esports, we were able to promote each city on an international scale. Streaming knows no borders. We invited all of our Host City Partners, Teams, and Partners to Rotterdam to see a vision of our complete ecosystem turning LEC Roadshwos into Esports Business Summits for all our partners.
According to a report by Riot Games, the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Split Finals contributed €2.4M ($2.6M) to Rotterdam’s local economy in just two days, according to data released by Riot Games. Rotterdam won the first slot in Riot’s host city program, bidding against over 40 cities.
G2 Esports would be crowned the Champions of the League of Legends 2019 LEC Spring Split Finals with a dominating performance over Origen. It took G2 just 18 minutes and 31 seconds to complete its Game 3 victory, securing victory in the Finals in the fastest time on record in competitive League of Legends, taking the trophy in an impressive fashion in front of 15,000 screaming fans packed inside Rotterdam's Ahoy Arena. That wasn't the only record set tonight either, with G2 completing its impressive three wins in a combined 74 minutes and 32 seconds – making EU history, beating the previous record by more than 30 minutes.
